Ten breakfast choices that are healthy

“Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.”  This common quote is a great way to remember how to eat throughout the day. People often tend to misinterpret this quote. They assume that having breakfast like a king gives them the license to eat aloo puri, paranthas and kababs every morning. They do not seem to realise how adversely they are affecting their health. No one should ever skip breakfast. Having proper breakfast boosts up the metabolism and gives the body energy to carry on throughout the day. Following are the ten breakfast choices apt for people who want to always remain fit.

1.     Scrambled eggs with beans and tomatoes
Those who have no problem in eating eggs, this is the most suitable breakfast for them. Eggs are full of protein. Along with beans and tomatoes it is a combination of vitamin C, lycopene and potassium.

2.   Oats
Having oats is positively one of the best options. Oats contain a lot of fiber and enrich the person with a lot of nutrients as well. Moreover it is really convenient and time saving to prepare oats.

3.   Poha
Poha is a viable option for breakfast.  It is a good choice for those who want to keep their weight in check. The best part is that it is delicious too.

4.   Muesli
Muesli contains less sugar and calories. It's high in fiber and whole grains, thus can aid in weight control. The addition of nuts provides a great source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids.

5.   Idlis
Idlis are full of vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates. They are prepared with no oil or masala, which make them a very healthy choice for breakfast.

6.   Upma
Upma is made of suji. It hardly takes any time to prepare it.  One can add veggies for deriving vitamins, proteins, carbohydrates and iron.

7.   Sprouts
Sprouts are filled with high amount of protein. A great way to kick start the day is by having protein. One can always add pieces of tomatoes and cucumbers in it and relish the taste of it.

8.   Moong dal cheela
Moong dal is a power house of nutrition.  Filled with protein, moong dal is one of the best vegetarian super foods. It is a great alternative for people who wish to lose weight.

9.   A bowl of fruits
Nothing is better than having a big bowl of fruits first thing in the morning. Varieties of fruits with a tinch of chat masala are a perfect option for breakfast.

10. Energy bars
Energy bars are not recommended every day. But like it is said that something is better than nothing. In a kind of situation when there is no other option available, one can have an energy bar. An energy bar normally has at least 3 to 5 grams of fiber and 10 grams of protein.


The word breakfast in itself describes the significance of having it. It implies “break the fast”. In the morning when one wakes up, he/she has not eaten anything for almost 9-10 hours. Hence it is essential to have a meal as soon as you wake up. Starting the day with a well-balanced meal that supplies adequate protein, carbohydrate and fiber keeps hunger at bay and leaves the person energised.
