All three meals of the day are equally important. People often misunderstand the old saying “have dinner like a pauper” by thinking that it is best to skip dinner. But this is not what it implies. Neither should a person go empty stomach to bed nor should fill his/her stomach to the full. Given the fact that you are not going to eat for the next 8 to 10 hours, your body needs the essential nutrients to perform bodily functions and maintain an adequate metabolic rate. Therefore it is vital to have a healthy and light dinner. Following are the ten best choices for dinner options-
1.     Fish with brown rice
For all the fish lovers there is definitely a good news for you all. Fish is a high-protein, low-fat food that provides a wide range of health benefits. So for people who eat fish need to stop their searches for finding a healthy dinner option immediately. Fish with brown rice make an ideal meal for dinner.

2.    Dosa
Dosa being a staple food of south India makes a perfect dinner option. Dosa is a great source of complete protein for vegetarians as it is made of rice batter and urad dal.

3.    Oatmeal
Although oatmeal is basically known as a breakfast saviour but it is a great option for dinner as well. It is full of fiber and a lot of other nutrients too. The best part is that it does not prolong fullness in the stomach, so it is suitable for eating before going to sleep.

4.    Daliya
Daliya makes it a perfect meal for diabetics and it is suitable for losing weight. Its high content of fiber keeps our digestive system healthy and keeps hunger at bay.

     
    5. Khichdi
People often say that khichdi is just for sick people. Well it is wrong to stereotype it as being a meal only for the people who are unwell. Khichdi is a balance of carbohydrate and protein. Moong beans additionally are a good source of dietary fibre, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium.

6.    Roasted vegetables
Eating vegetables can definitely never go wrong. Having vegetables after roasting them gives a unique and delicious flavour. Lets just say it is a perfect combination of taste and nutrition.  It is good source of protein, iron, & magnesium. Vegetables like beet root and carrot can be added to enhance its nutritional value.

9.    Dal, roti and sabzi
A healthy diet consists of the right carbs and proteins. Two rotis, dal and sabzi is a good meal to end the day with. The trick is to be cautious about the quantity and make sure that the sabzi is not very oily.

10.  Soup with salad

Having soup and salad, with a slice of multigrain bread is another option for dinner. One should avoid clear soups as they are low in nutrients and in salads heavy dressings should be taken care of. Lots of vegetables should be added in the soup. A bowl of soup provides a good balance of carbohydrates, protein and fats as well as the vitamins and minerals.
